Hi Desi and Chris,
I just found the place for receiving mail on this site so great to hear from you. How wonderful you will be enjoying the Greek Is. and later the canals. There are lots to chose from now and we are headed for Holland where there are suppose to be even more and a lot smaller. We found the big ones at the rally are all up in the 200,000Euro range and higher and way too big. Yes, the larger the size the more restriction. Lots has to do with air draft, draft, and length. But we are now looking at the river cruisers and there are a multitude of styles. Unbelievable really and although some are very expensive, especially the new builds the older ones can be very affordable. They tell us if it is 100.000E to offer 60,000E and they would probably take it. But we have not been with a broker yet and just now realizing although we have been looking at the Apollo Duck web site, there are dozens of brokers with boats not even listed on the Apollo site. We are collecting the info and also have the Barge buying guide from the DBA. It seems to not be of too much help now that we plan to go much smaller than the big barges and may not even do one of those. Mooring fees are important although small compared to slips in a marina and there are lots of places you just tie up on the rivers and canals for free. We are still learning and hope we will have tons of info for you when the time is right. Have fun you two and hope to see you over on this side of the world. Hugs Gayla and Steve

Hi guys
Paving the way for us.....how wonderful.....we won't be that far behind. Perhaps a couple of years in the Greek Islands first on Skylark. Can't do that on a barge. However.....it all looks pretty exciting and lots to choose from. The ones that are for sale....can you give us a price indicator or is that not OK on the website? I'd be interested to know to what extent size affects ongoing costs. Is it like with yachts that the bigger the yacht, the bigger the mooring fees? Or do mooring fees not apply? We will be watching this space with great interest. Happy hunting!!!
