Land Cruising AUSTRALIA

Australia is a BIG ISLAND!  It took us 6 months of car/tent camping to cover almost 19,000 miles and that was only in half the country!!

We broke the trips up into three two month journeys based on the southern hemispheres reversed seasons.   Below you will find lots of photo's,  three accounts full of information and a few fun times we had in special places.                  

 
DISCOVERING DOWN UNDER- Coastal and Inland 3,750 miles from Brisbane Queensland to New South Wales,  including Canberra and Sydney, as high as Mt. Kosciuszko, as far south as Edan on the SE coast and inland to Lightening Ridge the black opal fields.

LAND CRUISING OUTBACK -  8,125 miles north east to Townsville, Daintree near Cape Tribulation, west to Mt. Isa, Alice Springs, south to Coober Pedy, Adalaide, back north through the Barossa and Clare Valley and the Murray River to Lamington National Park.

TASMANIA TOUR- Crossing the Bass Straights to Tassie, the southern most island for Christmas and the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.  6,250 miles including Port Arthur, Burny Island, several National Parks, a hike on the 'Overland Trail', the Great Ocean Road, a bike trip on a Rail Trail and the Tamworth Music Festival.
